I know that is hard to believe on a day like today when the temperature is at -11 C with a windchill in the -30s, but I can definately feel the warmth of the spring. There is just something about that time of year when the sounds of baseball can be heard. To me, the most exciting sounds of the late winter are pitchers and catchers report.
And it isn't too difficult to get excited about this baseball season:
- The Jays have a team with a legitimate shot of making the playoffs and actually have some pitching depth.
- I will be going to Detroit to see the second game of the year (a full 5 days before baseball comes to Toronto)
- I have a long weekend trip planned where we will be going to Syracuse, following the Jays to Philadelphia and finally heading to Cooperstown for the Hall of Fame Game where the Jays will play the O's
- I will be heading down to San Francisco on vacation and catching a Giants game (and just possibly seeing history as Bonds breaks the HR record) and an A's game.
There is nothing that makes me feel happier in March than hearing Jerry's voice on the radio or catching any game on television, even if it is not my beloved Jays.
So, while I am still bundling myself in my winter coat, I am starting to get all warm and fuzzy from the inside out.

Even for those people who do not like baseball, I am sure at least a little smile creeps to their face when they hear baseball updates on the news for it means that sping is almost here and summer is on it's way. For me I like the sound of baseball too but not just for the fact baseball is back but so these idiots can stop complaining about how cold the weather is. Winter was made to be cold, like it or leave it!
Unfortunately, baby Alan is consuming all our 'free' money so the trips to baseball games will be limited this year. Your various trips sound like a lot of fun and with so much baseball I am sure you will have a great time. I just have one piece of advise for you....I collect pins and I don't have many baseball ones yet. ;)
