MLB Stadiums

Stealing an idea from my brother, I have decided to list the stadiums I have visited. I will rank them from most favourite to least favourite using the following criteria:
  • location
  • stadium comfort
  • stadium food
  • overall game experience
1. Camden Yards
This is by far the best stadium I have been to thus far. The park was in walking distance from the hotel we stayed in and parking wasn't too difficult either (at least for those who aren't directionally challenged). They have an entire 'street' inside the stadium where they have the souvenir stands and Boog's BBQ with regular visits from Boog himself. Probably the best part of the place were the fans. They were super nice and didn't even rub it in our faces when we were losing badly. I can't wait until I am able to make a trip back down there.

2. Exhibition Stadium
I cannot remember my first ever baseball game, but you can bet it was here with my folks. This is probably higher than it would normally be for the simple reason it is, or I should say, was my home park and the inspiration for our OK Blue Jays song. I have fond memories of being out in left field on the bleachers with my brother's baseball team watching the boys running around trying to get balls from batting practise. The stadium is accessible by TTC, but not as conviently as the new stadium.

3. Dodger Stadium
Okay, so I was here in high school, but I have a memory like a sieve so I really can't remember much about this place. It only gets such a high rating because I remember the view during the game. I have some beautiful pictures of over the outfield wall with the little video board in view. They also receive points for having a signature food - the Dodger dog. I don't remember it being anything special, but it wasn't half bad either.

4. Comerica Park
I was here in 2005 to see a Jays game. We got there a little late so I didn't really wander around the stadium much. They do have some nice statues of former Tigers players with plaques that mention their highlights. The seats were fairly comfortable as well. The fans were heckling us, but I believe it was good natured.

5. US Cellular Field
I visited this park in 2006 as well and went to two games over the Easter weekend. The place was pretty full as to be expected from a team that is the reigning world series champs. The stadium is conveniently located close to the 'El', but it is a $20 cab ride from downtown Chicago and since I wasn't allowed to take the subways there travelling got pretty costly. The food wasn't anything special either, but they had fans who were good sports to us even if they picked on us a bit.

6. Skydome/Rogers Centre
For sentimental reasons this really should be #1 as it is where my love of the game really came to fruition. But I do realize it has its faults too. They are doing a much better job to brighten the place up by removing the concrete look from different parts of the stadium and have improved the food selection immensely (although I still prefer the days when it had McDs). They are even getting hot water in the bathrooms this year. The seats are not very comfortable, but I have season tickets in the front row in Left field this year and there is plenty of leg room there.

7. Olympic Stadium
I know most people think this stadium sucks and for the most part it does. But I was there twice and both times were for special events and the stadium had 30,000 fans so I didn't get the full experience of what games were like at the end of the team. I did enjoy that you could get a Montreal Smoked meat sandwich combo with a beer and I found the seats fairly comfortable. The stadium was VERY inconvenient to get to though.

8. Angel Stadium
This probably should be raised in the list as any outdoor stadium beats an indoor one any day of the week, but honestly I can't remember a single thing about it. I likely shouldn't even have it on this list until I visit it again.
