With spring training in full gear, baseball season is quickly approaching. And we all know what that means....road trips!
I am in the thick of planning my big road trip of the year. With this being the final year for both stadiums in New York, I couldn't let the year go by without a visit to the historic Yankee Stadium. So, my father, brother and I are heading down in September for a weekend when we are able to catch both a Yankees and a Mets game. The real challenge for me so far, besides getting the Yankee tickets, has been trying to find a decent hotel for a decent price in a decent area that can accomodate 3 people all in different beds.
While that is the biggest road trip of the year, it isn't the only one. As you know, I keep track of my first baseball crush, Howie Clark. This year it turns out that he is playing in the farm system of the Minnesota Twins who just happen to have their AAA team in Rochester. While discussing this and the fact that Rochester isn't such a far drive with my brother, he happened to mention that Rochester also happens to have a Lacrosse team. This discussion prompted a bit of research and it just so happens that there is a Saturday in April where the Rochester Red Wings are playing the Syracuse Chiefs (the Blue Jays AAA team) in the afternoon and the Rochester Knighthawks are playing the Buffalo Bandits (my brother's favourite lacrosse team) at night. It now seems as though all the details are taken care of and what started out as a tidbit of information has turned into a road trip in less than a month!
Let's Play Ball!
