I give up! I am not giving up on the Jays, but I am giving up on this year. In the back of my mind I still had playoff hopes even though the logic part of my brain was saying that we would never get in, not in the division we are in and not with Detroit and Chicago playing so well.
Now, I have no more delusions of grandeur. Don't get me wrong, I am still going to be out at every game cheering my brains out, but now I am just looking for good baseball and not October baseball. True, we still have a number of games versus the Yanks and Sox so there is always hope, but I feel that for sanity sake I should just enjoy the game. With some luck we can end up second in our division. That would show promise, that would be a step. I suppose I can't expect things to magically change overnight. True, we did get a LOT of help this past off-season and for the most part they are pulling their weight. With the offense we have this year we should be tops in the division, especially since we had one of the top bullpens last year and didn't change much this year. Who would have expected a pitching implosion?
Anyway, for me, it is time to start thinking about next year. We have a good base to build on. We are in danger of losing some parts of the whole picture, but depending on how we fill those holes, next year looks promising. I haven't given up on AJ yet - despite his start last night. I am looking forward to seeing how he does when he has a proper spring training and comes out of the gates strong. And some of our young arms just might be able to fill in those extra places we are in danger of losing.

Like all good Cubs fans know "There's always next year", unfortunately for us we hope for a .500 season and not a championship or even a playoff spot.
I am not following who the Jays could lose or who they have for years to come but they have some good trade material. I also think that AJ will be back to form next year and with a little luck the Jays will make the playoffs.
